Rural Construction

This is your typical rural building style. The ‘brick’ is made out of wet clay that are cut into blocks. After that, the blocks are laid on top of each other – like bricks – to form walls. The plaster is basically the same mixture plastered onto the blocks, after the blocks have been dried out for a few hours. Preferably, I hear, that the building ‘season’ is the Winters, because the slow rate of dryness allows the blocks to really get ‘into position’ and when the Summer starts, all the excess water is dried out. The reason I am telling you about this is that all said and done, this is the cheapest form of decent construction. A standard brick-and-mortar structure would have cost me to the tune of 150,000 rupees, whereas this type of building cost about 30,000 (or cheaper).

The reason I am getting this enclosure made is for a dairy farm. The above construction is at Pir Ghani, a small village in District Pakpattan.
